Strategic Partners and Advisors

THE NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION (NASA)
www.nasa.gov
NASA scientists recently released a spectacular, detailed view of the early Universe based on data captured by the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP). One of the greatest breakthroughs in modern cosmology, this discovery provides substantial new in-depth information about the nature of the early universe and will be made available to the film along with numerous other images and NASA support. NASA is also interested in partnering with Universe Partners to celebrate the 2005 World Year of Physics: Einstein in the 21st Century.

THE HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE INSTITUTE
http://hubblesite.org/
The Hubble Space Telescope Institute will provide spectacular images gathered from deep space to create an exquisite portrait of the Universe. Hubble Telescope imagery will be developed for the film under the leadership of Manager of Informal Education, John Stokes.

THE REUBEN H. FLEET SCIENCE CENTER
www.rhfleet.org
The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, led by giant screen film producer Dr. Jeffrey Kirsch, pioneered the concept of institutional collaboration to produce innovative films that stretch the boundaries of the giant screen medium. The Fleet Center was also the co-founder of the international Museum Film Network consortium of 15 science museums that collaborate to produce and facilitate museum distribution of science-based, giant screen films. Dr. Kirsch is also the president of the Museum Film network and will present STEPHEN HAWKING'S BEYOND THE HORIZON to the Network for distribution.

SILICON GRAPHICS INC. (SGI)
www.sgi.com
Silicon Graphics, Inc., the world's leader in computing, visualization and storage and the premier graphics supplier for Hollywood, has donated $2 million worth of in-kind visual effects rendering services to STEPHEN HAWKING'S BEYOND THE HORIZON. Historically, SGI has worked with Prof. Hawking at Cambridge University to develop the U.K. Cosmology Grid, and SGI will also make this mapping and animation template available to for use in the giant screen film.

THE HARVARD-SMITHSONIAN ASTROPHYSICS OBSERVATORY
www.cfa.harvard.edu/sed
Dr. Roy Gould, head of Science Media Group, will develop the materials for the project's educational component.

THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR SUPERCOMPUTING APPLICATIONS (NCSA) www.NCSA.uiuc.edu
NCSA, led by Dr. Donna Cox, is an innovator and developer of US computing infrastructure and a collaborator with SGI and Stephen Hawking in the UK Cosmology Grid. Together NCSA and SGI will create the simulations on which the film's scientific visualization graphics are based.

Matte World Digital
www.matteworld.com
Owned and directed by project Special Effects Supervisor Craig Barron, Matte World Digital will contribute graphics expertise to build emotional and visual impact into simulation images created through the collaborative work of SGI and NCSA.
