Professor Stephen Hawking – Principal Scientific Content Advisor & Co-Author
Professor Hawking is one of a few research scientists with broad public recognition. His first trade book,
A Brief History of Time, is among the most popular science books of all time, having sold over ten million
copies in 40 languages since its 1988 publication. Made into a feature 35-mm film in 1992, the book was updated
as an illustrated edition in 1995. Hawking's work inspired a 1997 PBS series, also released in video. This media
success turned Hawking into a virtual pop icon; he played himself on Simpsons and Star Trek episodes. His The
Universe in a Nutshell (2001), an extensively illustrated book, amplified his cosmology and received the prestigious
Aventis Prize for 2002.
Leonard Mlodinow, Ph.D. - Screenwriter
Leonard Mlodinow brings a unique perspective of being a physicist, a screenwriter, and an author to the project.
Leonard Mlodinow received his PhD in Physics from the University of California at Berkeley. His doctorate, on quantum theory in infinite dimensions, though less than thirty pages long, made enough of a splash to land him on the faculty of the prestigious California Institute of Technology.
Mlodinow has written for many hit television series, ranging from comedies like "Night Court," to "Star Trek: the Next Generation," where he worked alongside Gene Roddenberry. His television credits include MacGyver, Hunter, O'Hara, The New Adam 12, It's Garry Shandling's Show, Grand, What's Happening Now!!, and Nine to Five. He is currently involved in several major film and television projects.
Dr. Mlodinow's critically acclaimed first book, Euclid's Window (2001), is an accessible and humorous history of geometry, from Euclid to our present theories of curved space. His second book, Feynman's Rainbow: A Search for Beauty in Physics and in Life, was nominated for the 2003 California Booksellers Award. He is currently working on a series of books about math and science for young readers for Scholastic. His collaboration with Stephen Hawking on A Briefer History of Time (scheduled for release in 2004), led to his involvement as screenwriter on the first film visualization of the work of Stephen Hawking: BEYOND THE HORIZON.
Mlodinow's ability to combine drama with science will be instrumental in making Beyond the Horizon both entertaining and educational.
Bruce Neibaur – Director
Mr. Neibaur has been a writer and director in the independent motion picture arena
for over 25 years. His experience spans the mediums of television, broadcast

and directed award-winning projects in each of these disciplines. His large
format films include
Mysteries of Egypt, India: Land of the Tiger and
Lewis and Clark: Great Journey West.
Neibaur has directed films in 18 countries on five continents. His 1996 effort,
Hearst Castle: Building the Dream, the story of William Randolph Hearst’s quest to build his
castle at San Simeon, broke new ground in the large format arena. The film
successfully combines the elements of documentary and dramatic filmmaking.
